PUDDLE OF MUDD Begin Recording 'Rawer' Sophomore Album
January 6, 2003PUDDLE OF MUDD have commenced the recording process for the follow-up to their 2001 Interscope debut, "Come Clean", at a Los Angeles studio with producer John Kurzweg (CREED). A late spring release is expected.
"Drums are done," guitarist Paul Phillips wrote in a recent post to the band's official web site. "Greg [Upchurch] finished them last night, so the first stage is complete and now we can move on to the important stuff, guitars!"
According to Phillips, the band intends on recording 13 songs, including "Already Gone", "Spin You Around", and "Away From Me". "If I had to describe the sound so far, I would just say 'rawer,'" the guitarist said. "I'm sure there will be some stuff in the vein of [the smash hit] 'Blurry', but on the whole everything is a lot edgier."
Phillips admitted the group decided on recording in a rented house so inspiration would always be close at hand. "That way we can live and work in the same place, which is very important when you are as lazy as us," he said.
"Come Clean" peaked at No. 9 on The Billboard 200 and has sold 3.1 million copies in the U.S., according to SoundScan.
